Is nowashe tattoo safe?
Yes, Your skin is made up of three layers—epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue—and the epidermis itself consists of basal, spinous and horny layers. Our dye resides only within the horny layer (stratum corneum).
As your dead skin cells naturally shed, the dye is released along with them. This renewal process takes about 2–3 weeks, so the tattoo will slowly fade away without leaving any trace.

How does nowashe tattoo work?
nowashe 14days™ tattoos are colored using a natural dye extracted from the gardenia plant (Rubiaceae family). Upon application, the dye reacts with proteins in the membranes of your outermost skin cells (keratinocytes), first imparting a soft blue hue that gradually deepens to a rich blue‑black.
How long does an nowashe tattoo last?
Our tattoos can last up to 14 days. How long it lasts is highly dependent on where you apply your tattoo, your daily activities and skin’s moisture. Our ink gradually fades away as your skin naturally regenerates.
What tattoo sizes do you offer?
Our tattoos come in the following canvas sizes: 1x1”, 2x2", 3x3", 4x4", 5x2”, 7x2", 6x3", 6.5x6.5", and 5.5x9". Please note that the usable design space for the tattoo design is roughly 0.25” smaller than the canvas itself. More information on this can be found here.
What color/shade will my tattoo be?
At the first 30mins, you’ll notice the ink is a light gray/blue shade. This is how the tattoo will look when first applied to your skin - but don’t worry! Over 24 hours, your tattoo will darken into a tattoo-like shade - it’s all part of the nowashe magic!
